How To Gold Pan Paydirt

How To Goldpan Paydirt.  A how to guide for gold paydirt and how to goldpan paydirt.  Pay dirt is best panned after practicing with dirt and lead.

There are good reasons why you should start with good old dirt and some lead added in.  The biggest reason is because you spend your hard earned money on paydirt, which is supposed to be a way to find some gold, but if you don't pan it right, YOU WILL LOSE GOLD!  You're going to lose gold anyway, until you master the art of goldpanning, but here is a how to guide to lose as little gold as possible.

What you need: lead pellets(pellet ammo for pellet rifles work best), a gold pan(green is the best color to use), a rubbermaid bucket to go under the pan, a hammer, and a snuffer bottle.  Oh yeah, and some dirt.  Any will do, but grainier, coarser dirt will be more like the original thing.

The reason we use lead is because it has the closest properties to gold.  Gold is going to sink to the bottom, while lighter stuff plop out of your pan once you start.  Lead is very similar.

First, pound 5 - 8 pellets until they are flat.  Sprinkle these in the dirt, along with 1-2 unflattened pellets.  Mix it in the dirt real good.

Get some water and put it in the rubber maid container.  Get some dirt and water in your pan.  A half of a handful ought to do it for now.

Next, slowly turn the pan counter-clockwise tilting it slightly, allowing a little water and dirt to escape the pan on each turn.  Once in a while shake or tap the pan, to loosen up the dirt, and drop the lead to the bottom.  Work it down, until most of the dirt is gone.  Anytime you see the lead pick it out.

Count your lead.  Did you retrieve it all?  If not, keep trying.  If so, and you feel confident in trying your paydirt, switch out the fake dirt for the gold dirt, and use the same techniques.  Just be prepared with the snuffer bottle to suck up the fine gold.
